About The Position

The Maintenance Specialist – Controls ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant automation and control systems – DCS, PLCs, SIS, F&G, and analyzer networks. Reporting to the Maintenance Controls Supervisor, you will act as the site subject-matter expert driving control-system integrity, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance across the plant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical, Control, Electronic, or Mechatronics Engineering, OR Two-year technical degree plus ≥3 years PLC/DCS experience
  • Minimum 5 years controls maintenance in LNG, Oil & Gas, or petrochemical environments.
  • Expertise in DCS/SIS/PLC maintenance, analyzers, and industrial communications.
  • Systems: Yokogawa Centum VP & ProSafe SIS, GE Mark VIe, Allen Bradley ControlLogix, Siemens PCS-7, DeltaV.
  • Knowledge of HMI, tank gauging, rotating equipment monitoring, and mooring aid systems.
  • Software & Tools: Industrial network configuration (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet, Profibus).
  • Sequence-of-Events (SOE), Historian data analysis, SAP CMMS, MOC software.
  • TWIC card or eligibility to obtain.
  • PLC/DCS programming (ladder and structured text).
  • PID and process loop tuning for liquefaction and compressor control.
  • SIS proof-testing and interlock verification per IEC 61511 and API.
  • Industrial networking and cybersecurity (access control and gateway security).
  • Alarm rationalization and prioritization.
  • Root-cause analysis using historian and SOE tools.
  • Automation change management (hardware and firmware).
  • Vendor collaboration and integration support.
  • Disaster-recovery design and validation.
  • Continuous learning of emerging LNG automation technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • IEC 61511 or API certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Preventive and corrective maintenance of DCS, PLC, SIS, analyzer, and related controls in compliance with HSSE and VGIMS standards.
  • Conduct system function testing and diagnostic tracking; maintain regulatory logs and reporting (MOC, audit, inhibit/bypass).
  • Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis using historians, SOE, and diagnostic tools; implement corrective actions.
  • Serve as Control System SME, mentoring technicians in hardware, tuning, alarms, and startup procedures.
  • Provide design support for brownfield utilities integration, migrations, and major DCS upgrades.
  • Participate in technical reviews – HAZOP, LOPA, PHA, RCA, P&ID, risk assessments, FAT, and SAT validations.
  • Author and redline SIS proof-test and function-test procedures; perform SIS validations using approved tools.
  • Review and update Cause-And-Effect matrices and inhibit/bypass logs.
  • Design-manage in-plant fiber schedules; maintain Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and Profinet communication networks.
  • Support Electrical team with smart MCC configuration and network management.
  • Ensure control-system backups, disaster-recovery procedures, and continuous improvement of recovery solutions.
  • Maintain compliance with ISA, NFPA 70E, FERC, IEC 61511, API standards, and VGIMS requirements.
  • Prepare Job Safety Analyses (JSA), ePTW, and work permits; manage daily progress and contractor quality reports.
  • Coordinate vendor engineering requests, interface with E&M engineering, and oversee contractor performance per CPLNG Contractor Management Procedure.
  • Drive Ready-for-Operations (RFO) projects to design, test, and commission control-system updates before commercial operations.
  • Maintain accountability for timecards, performance, and professional behavior per CPLNG policies.
