This is a multi-craft position performing work involving the skills of two or more industrial maintenance areas. The role requires following detailed job-specific instructions to ensure processes and procedures are followed efficiently and productively, working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods. There is an alternate path option where the role may have an emphasis in either electrical or mechanical. The Electrical Path requires intermediate to advanced electrical and PLC troubleshooting knowledge, skills, and abilities. The Mechanical Path requires in-depth hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting knowledge, skills, and abilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include ensuring personal safety and the safety of team members, assisting supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, wearing appropriate PPE, using proper lifting and ergo techniques, and proactively promoting The McWane Way Principles. The role involves inspecting, operating, or testing machinery to diagnose malfunctions, planning and laying out repair work using diagrams and specifications, requesting equipment and supplies, and transporting tools and materials. It also includes diagnosing mechanical problems, dismantling machines, installing/replacing/repairing parts, cleaning and lubricating machinery, recording production and maintenance information, completing CMMS work orders, communicating with team members, working to reduce bottlenecks, and participating in continuous improvement projects. The role requires understanding and using rigging for cranes and hoists, assisting in root cause analysis, and recommending actions. For the ADVANCED MECHANICAL PATH, responsibilities include reading and interpreting complex machine drawings and hydraulic/pneumatic schematics, assembling, testing, and troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic equipment/systems, cutting and welding components, replacing and aligning couplings, troubleshooting/repairing/rebuilding pumps and drive systems, and tracking/replacing conveyor belts. For the ADVANCED ELECTRICAL PATH, responsibilities include maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing industrial control systems, running and bending conduit to NEC Code Standards, pulling wires and making terminations, inspecting electrical systems, diagnosing electrical problems, testing electrical systems and circuits, understanding E&I drawings, troubleshooting basic I/O systems, designing and wiring start/stop stations, wiring switches, and installing/replacing soft starts and variable frequency drives (VFD).
