About The Position

Central Counties Services is seeking an individual who is motivated to learn and expand on any current maintenance skills they may have to serve as a Maintenance Specialist in support of facility operations. The successful candidate will work within a team setting that will provide training and support while learning the position. When ready, the selected candidate will be able to perform work independently as job demands arise. You may be performing preventative maintenance, building inspections, trouble shooting and repair of plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems. Requirements

  • Experience in general facility and building maintenance and repair work required.
  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent required.
  • Ability to safely troubleshoot maintenance issues and utilize standard maintenance tools and equipment, including multimeters and volt meters.
  • Knowledge of construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of buildings, equipment, building materials, and applicable fire and safety regulations.
  • Ability to safely and effectively utilize tools, equipment, and maintenance procedures to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building systems and equipment.
  • Ability to understand and utilize technical drawings and diagrams; apply appropriate maintenance methods and techniques; prioritize and organize work activities; and communicate and coordinate effectively with staff, contractors, and vendors.
  • Skill in identifying maintenance issues, exercising sound judgment, solving problems, and completing assigned work efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to proficiently utilize computer programs including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and maintenance work order systems.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex (journey-level) facility maintenance, preventive maintenance, fleet support, and repair work involving Center buildings, grounds, equipment, and Center-owned and leased vehicles.
  • Conducts inspections, performs routine repairs and preventive maintenance, transporting vehicles, coordinating vendor services, and supporting facility maintenance projects.
  • Performs maintenance activities that support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of Center facilities, equipment, and fleet vehicles.
  • Conducts routine inspections of Center facilities, grounds, equipment, and fleet vehicles to identify maintenance deficiencies; completes repairs within the scope of the position; and reports or recommends corrective actions requiring advanced technical expertise to the Facilities Manager.
  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and fleet vehicles to maximize equipment reliability and extend service life.
  • Performs routine and journey-level maintenance, repair, and inspection of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and mechanical systems and equipment within the scope of the position, using established maintenance procedures.
  • Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains furniture systems and assists with approved furniture and office relocations.
  • Evaluates assigned work and refers complex, hazardous, or otherwise specialized maintenance issues to the Facilities Manager or designated senior maintenance staff.
  • Communicates professionally with Center staff, contractors, vendors, and repair facilities regarding maintenance and fleet activities.
  • Maintains assigned tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
  • Performs assigned duties in compliance with Center policies, applicable safety regulations, and utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participates in assigned on-call coverage for after-hours and weekend facility and fleet maintenance needs, responding within established timeframes and escalating issues beyond the scope of the position as appropriate.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
  • Demonstrates high ethical standards, trustworthiness, and personal integrity.
  • Maintains regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality to support continuity of departmental operations.
  • Successfully completes required training, cross-training, and continuing education to maintain job knowledge, technical skills, and consistency of maintenance operations.
  • Travels throughout the Center's catchment area to perform assigned maintenance and fleet responsibilities.
  • Performs routine inspections of Center-owned and leased vehicles to identify maintenance, safety, and operational concerns.
  • Assists with coordinating preventive maintenance schedules, vehicle registration activities, and repair appointments under the direction of the Facilities Manager.
  • Transports vehicles to and from dealerships, repair facilities, tire shops, and other authorized service providers.
  • Moves vehicles between Center locations to support operational and programmatic needs.
  • Performs minor vehicle maintenance, including replacement of windshield wiper blades, light bulbs, batteries, air filters, registration decals, and other routine components.
  • Checks and maintains proper tire pressure and replaces flat tires or spare tires when appropriate.
  • Maintains accurate records of vehicle mileage, preventive maintenance, repairs, and related fleet documentation.
  • Assists employees with routine fleet-related issues, including jump starts, low tire pressure, and coordinating approved roadside or lockout assistance.
  • Maintains fleet vehicles in a clean, safe, and operational condition to support uninterrupted Center operations and regulatory compliance.
