About The Position

The role of the Maintenance Electrician is to be a great Nucor team member who demonstrates high levels of honesty, integrity, and ownership in everything they do. Additionally, the selected candidate must demonstrate the ability to diagnose, repair, or replace components within complex electrical control systems. This includes having the necessary skills to navigate PLC programs, drive configurations, and industrial communication networks throughout the troubleshooting process. The Maintenance Electrical Technician will work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Fundamental understanding of electrical theory
  • Experience troubleshooting low voltage (<600VAC) motors and controllers.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs, instrumentation, process control devices, and VFDs.
  • 3+ years’ experience in industrial or military electrical maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-year or 4-year degree in electrical or related field.
  • Experience maintaining overhead cranes.
  • Exposure to electrical substation equipment and maintenance practices.
