About The Position

The City of Lakewood is seeking hardworking and responsible candidates to fill part-time Maintenance Services Aide positions. Under general supervision, the Maintenance Services Aide performs a variety of routine custodial activities at city facilities; assist with the maintenance of buildings and adjacent ground areas to assure a clean, orderly and secure condition; and performs other related duties as assigned. Incumbents must be at least 18 years of age with the flexibility to work hours as assigned. Incumbents will work evenings or graveyard shifts, hours will vary depending on the needs of the department and will include weekends and holidays. Incumbents may work a maximum of 28 hours per week. Incumbents are hired at the Maintenance Services Aide I level and have the opportunity to advance with experience and training. These are at-will positions and serve at the pleasure of the City Manager or designee.

Requirements

Graduation from High School or GED equivalent
One year of custodial experience
Possession of a valid Class "C" Operator's license issued by the California State Department of Motor Vehicles
A good driving record
Must be at least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

Maintains cleanliness of restrooms, offices and other facilities as assigned.
Sweeps, mops and polishes floor surfaces.
Vacuums, dusts and polishes tables, counters and other furnishings.
Cleans and dusts offices.
Cleans and disinfects drinking fountains.
Cleans, sanitizes and deodorizes restrooms including sinks, toilets and urinals.
Fills dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper and other items.
Unclogs drains and toilets.
Performs spot painting and minor wall surfaces.
Empties trash containers and replaces trash liners.
Picks up and removes litter and debris from properties.
Operates custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines and other equipment as assigned.
Keeps equipment and supplies in order and requests more when needed.
Performs other related duties as required.
