About The Position

This Facility Maintenance Supervisor performs, directs, supervises and/or manages all Division of Marine Fisheries maintenance and repair operations. Facility maintenance and repair responsibilities include division facilities’ internal power distribution, air conditioning, generators, heating, fire, security, and plumbing systems. The position directs, supervises, or contracts the diagnostics, repair, maintenance or rebuilding of small and medium sized boats, associated in-board/outboard and outboard motors, boat and heavy equipment trailers, and some heavy equipment and division-owned vehicles. This employee is also responsible for coordinating the division capital improvement, repair and renovation and facility expansion programs. The position is responsible for assigning and supervising maintenance personnel including hiring, training, coaching, work assignments and work performance, and providing long-range and mid-range work priorities and plans.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in construction management, air conditioning, heating and refrigeration technology, industrial maintenance technology or mechanical engineering technology from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressive experience in construction or facility maintenance including two (2) years of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities; or
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and five (5) years of progressive experience in facility maintenance or construction including journey level experience in at least three (3) building or mechanical trades including two (2) years of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise the custodial care, grounds keeping and routine interior and exterior maintenance of all division-owned facilities, properties, and some leased property.
  • Collaborate with contractors and division staff conducting facility maintenance and repair services and for conducting quality control inspections of contracted maintenance and repair work.
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise preventive, routine and emergency maintenance of all division-owned boats, trailers, heavy equipment.
  • Ensure that division vessels meet appropriate seaworthiness and state and federal safety regulations.
  • Supervise division maintenance personnel, including general utility workers, maintenance, and marine mechanics, as well as any contracted maintenance and repair personnel.
