About The Position

PTC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of welded and cold drawn mechanical steel tubing and tubular shapes, plated bar and tubing, and fabricated parts and precision components. We at PTC value our employees’ health and wellness. This role performs duties to promptly troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment. Receives assignments from Maintenance Supervisor or, in his absence, the Plant Engineer or Shift Supervisor.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1040 hours on-the-job probationary period, including time worked as a qualified Maintenance Repairman “B”.
• Thorough knowledge of all production and support equipment in the plant.
• Demonstrated ability to promptly and correctly assess problems and restore equipment to good operating condition.
• Must possess a complete set of necessary hand tools upon completion of probationary period.
• Satisfactory results on Company’s Maintenance Repairman tests.
• High School or equivalent
• Verifiable evidence of previous experience and/or training in industrial maintenance, including all of the follow trades: electrical, mechanical, welding and cutting, hydraulic, and pneumatics.
• Qualified as a forklift operator.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.
• Must have knowledge on simple computer programming.
• Requires excellent measurement skills.
• Ability to follow instructions from technical parameters.
• Perform duties proficiently, and be able to work in a fast paced environment with ability to handle and prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands.
• Must have strong work ethic.
• Must be able to work flexible schedules and hours.
• Regularly required to stand, and/or walk, and/or use arms and hands to load and unload material for extended period of time.
• Must be able to safely lift and load 50lbs.
• The employee must also be able to work outside in a variety of conditions.
• Candidates must be able to tolerate any climate, must be flexible with shift and hours.

Responsibilities

• Remove, repair, install, and adjust all types of parts on plant machinery so equipment functions properly.
• Examine machine problems and promptly advise Maintenance Supervisor, Plant Engineer, or Shift Supervisor of findings.
• Manufacture simple parts as necessary to repair existing machinery and install new machinery.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams.
• Install and repair plumbing.
• Direct and instruct Maintenance Repairman “B”.
• Perform duties and responsibilities with a minimum of supervision.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and procedures on equipment.
• Receive and store tools and spare parts.
• Maintain Parts Crib in a clean and orderly condition.
• Use large variety of hand tools and power tools.
• Communicates with employees of other shifts regarding status of operations, equipment, repairs, tooling, etc.
• Conduct work in a safe, orderly, and clean manner.
• Assumes various other duties at the direction of the shift supervisor.
• Understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers.
