About The Position

The Residential Life & Housing department at Southern University and A&M College is seeking a Maintenance Repairer 2 to join their team. This role is crucial for ensuring that campus facilities are maintained in proper working order. Requirements

Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair electrical systems of proper volts.
Install, alter, maintain, and repair wiring systems, electric clocks, floodlights, electrical stoves, and electrical fixtures and equipment.
Maintain and replace electric motors, and troubleshoot electrical issues.
Prepare painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes, or removing old paint.
Clean up supplies and replace fixtures when a project is complete.
Clean and maintain painting equipment.
Perform all repairs related to carpentry, including framing, finishing, cabinetry, paneling, wallboard, glass repair, lock installation, and door and drapery rod repair and replacements.
Perform flood and tile repairs and concrete patching.
Install floor tiles, ceiling tiles, paneling, and wallboard.
Repair damaged screens and windows.
Install, alter, maintain, and repair water and sewer lines, lavatories, commodes, and gas and steam lines as required in residence halls/university apartments.
Repair old plumbing fixtures and pipelines; renew washers and valves; clean open lines as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
