About The Position

The Maintenance Reliability Tech A is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the capacity of equipment assets in assigned areas to achieve optimal efficiencies at the lowest reasonable cost. This role requires a focus on safe work practices, high-quality precision work, and adherence to standards. The technician will grow in knowledge of maintenance practices and equipment performance, understanding their impact on manufacturing processes and business objectives, and will provide feedback on job assignment needs and improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • Safety practices including LOTO, Confined Space, PPE, Hot Work, PIT, Fall Protection, Hoisting & Rigging.
  • Calculator and Computer application for work order documentation and parts requisitioning.
  • Understanding of measurement units, techniques, and application of appropriate tools.
  • Math skills including arithmetic and application of formulas (e.g., area, volume).
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and make simple sketches.
  • Identification and selection of proper tools for work assignments.
  • Knowledge of selection and development of lubrication schedules, application methods, and systems.
  • Proficiency in power transmission system and component removal and installation techniques and procedures.
  • Proficiency in plumbing/piping conveyance system and component removal and installation techniques and procedures.
  • Precision alignment techniques for direct-coupled elements, including laser alignment.
  • Basic fabrication skills including knowledge of welding and cutting techniques and tools.
  • Intermediate troubleshooting techniques of mechanical systems, understanding electrical interactions.
  • Understanding of common cause failure modes and correction of mechanical systems.

  • Assisting Reliability Tech A’s and Leads in installation and removal of general mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain manufacturing process and support equipment to highest, reasonable performance levels, including mechanical systems such as power transmission components (bearings, pulleys, shafts, motors, gearboxes), conveyance systems (product/process related, steam, water, air, electricity), and mechanical control systems (hydraulic & pneumatic elements).
  • Troubleshoot and execute repairs of equipment causing or contributing to safety, quality, downtime/productivity issues, and communicate findings and potential causes to leadership.
  • Execute and provide feedback on proactive maintenance plans, including Preventive Maintenance (PM) for inspection, measurement, and lubrication, and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) using Infrared Thermography, oil sampling, and ultrasound.
  • Perform Condition Maintenance (CM) by repairing and replacing components identified through PM & PdM activities, and contribute to the development of detailed job plans.
  • Execute assigned or scheduled work orders for projects and process improvement (PI) efforts.
  • Mentor Reliability Techs C & D in skill development and strengthen personal skills by assisting Reliability Tech A’s and Leads in the installation and removal of general mechanical systems.
