About The Position

This role operates within the maintenance and repair of plant equipment and facilities, aligned with standard GM maintenance systems. The engineer will conduct appropriate checks and tests, communicate evaluations of results, and serve as the first line of escalation for maintenance Group Leaders. They will interface with service group personnel on technical and production problems, establish courses of action to accomplish OEE/TIP goals, and ensure targets are met. Responsibilities include scheduling PM and CM activities to reach productivity targets, developing and adjusting spare part inventories, supporting project completion on time and within budget, and expanding the effectiveness of the Maintenance organization by reducing unexpected downtime.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or automotive environment
  • Must be able to work independently, with an emphasis on looking ahead to anticipate failures, analyzing data, and a drive to make systems and equipment more efficient
  • High degree of problem-solving skills & experience in Continuous Improvement activities
  • High level of oral/written communication & presentation skills
  • Highly skilled in task management and prioritization
  • Desire to identify where systems/programs are failing, and be able to develop innovative solutions to improve the overall operation
  • Delegation and maintaining accountability of the team’s workload
  • High level of interpersonal skills to effectively work with others and in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience (engineering degree preferred)
  • Highly proficient in usage of computer systems such as Maximo, Microsoft Office, COGNOs Analytics, SAP
  • In-depth knowledge of the principle and implementation of various predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, infrared, ultrasonic monitoring, fluid/oil analysis, etc..)
  • Desire to learn and constantly improve skills and knowledge
  • Ability to adapt, learn, and train employees to ever-changing technologies and systems

Responsibilities

  • Manage the plant TPM program
  • Maintain reports to track overall health of the Maintenance department (KPIs, Utilization/Downtime, failure analysis, etc…)
  • Collaborate with other Maintenance members to assist with planning/scheduling improvement initiatives
  • Utilize Maximo CMMS to track all Maintenance activities and screen data for improvement initiatives
  • Drive improvement of equipment using Root Cause Analysis and Reliability Centered Maintenance
  • Accountable to plant KPIs, spare parts/stocking strategies, and supporting the Maintenance monthly budget
  • First line of escalation for the maintenance Group Leaders
  • Interface with service group personnel on technical and production problems
  • Establish a course of action to accomplish OEE/TIP goals and ensure targets are met
  • Schedules PM and CM activities to reach productivity targets each month
  • Develops and adjusts spare part inventories
  • Support completion of projects on time and within budget
