The Oskaloosa plants include iron and brass foundries, a machine shop, assembly, finished goods warehousing, shipping and administrative offices. This role is the driving force in understanding and utilizing available resources and innovatively implement processes to ensure Manufacturing Excellence that provide a sustainable Clow. Key Performance Indicators include meeting targeted uptime and efficiency requirements, identifying and implementing process/production opportunities for safety/enviro improvement, cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and/or enhanced inventory control, completing team member performance and safety conversations, and achieving a high score on 360 reviews.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Prior leadership experience in manufacturing operations including lead person, leadership trainee and/or growth opportunities.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma and a minimum of 2 years’ experience at Clow Valve in hydrant production including team lead or lead person opportunities
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Strategically plan by communicating with schedulers, understanding customer needs, and managing available resources.
  • Create team member alignment by determining priorities, creating team assignments, and clearly communicating in a daily start-up meeting.
  • Ensure all needed resources are available to meet production needs and uphold quality standards by managing daily material flow and monitoring parts needed.
  • Think critically and problem solve to make necessary adjustments in the schedule and resources because of customer needs, inventory discrepancies, and available work force.
  • Proactively maintain accurate levels on all non-inventory expensed items for production to ensure employees have the needed supplies to complete daily activities.
  • Report output electronically to monitor and gauge success of meeting production goals.
  • Revise and approve daily scrap while implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Effectively communicate to team members by conducting daily start-up meetings, spending time at each work center, and frequently walking the floor to build relationships and serve as a resource.
  • Ensure new hires are adequately trained on safety requirements, product specifications, and operations.
  • Actively collaborate with managers, supervisors, and team members to successfully troubleshoot, foresee potential problems, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Diligently document performance reviews and encourage development of team members through regular performance conversations.
  • Identify learning and development opportunities, seize coaching opportunities, and solicit feedback by conducting one-on-ones.
  • Mitigate safety related matters through consistent and clear communication on proper department procedures while modifying and enhancing processes as needed to guarantee safety and efficiency.
  • Manage team member data to provide an accurate picture of department needs including monitoring attendance, approving requested vacations, and completing data entry on electronic systems.
  • Manage and coordinate EHS responsibilities by performing and ensuring EHS related inspections and training are completed for your area of responsibility.
  • Act as an active business partner by participating in meetings regarding a wide range of topics including coaching, safety, material handling, and the overall business strategy and success.
  • Support customer service by assisting with customer walk-throughs and inspections related to the department.
  • Actively participate in the new candidate interview process and the orientation/on-boarding training.
