About The Position

The Maintenance Plumber is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plumbing systems and related fixtures within commercial facilities. This role supports the safe and efficient operation of building infrastructure by ensuring heating, water, and drainage systems are functioning properly and in compliance with applicable plumbing codes and safety standards. The position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting broader facility maintenance operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Candidates must hold a valid Duval County Plumber’s Journeyman License as a required qualification for this position.
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial or industrial plumbing maintenance and repair.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency using plumbing hand tools, power tools, and pipe fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose plumbing issues and perform repairs independently.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of advanced education, technical training, apprenticeship, or equivalent specialized plumbing training.
  • Experience working in commercial real estate, healthcare, industrial, or large-scale facility environments.
  • Relevant plumbing certifications or trade licenses, where applicable.
  • Basic welding or pipefitting experience.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs and work order management systems.
  • Familiarity with building mechanical systems and facility operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple maintenance tasks and prioritize work effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, including pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and drainage systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, building plans, and technical drawings to determine installation requirements and work sequences.
  • Inspect structures to identify obstructions and determine appropriate routing for piping and plumbing systems.
  • Cut, thread, bend, and join pipes using hand tools, power tools, pipe-threading machines, torches, and related equipment.
  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, water heaters, dishwashers, garbage disposals, and water softeners.
  • Test plumbing systems for leaks and functionality using water, air, and pressure gauges.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on plumbing systems, including clearing clogged drains, repairing leaks, and replacing worn components.
  • Support general facility maintenance activities and perform additional duties as assigned.
