About The Position

The purpose of the Maintenance Planner is to perform as a professional, highly skilled, and exceptionally competent maintenance person. This role involves handling the certification, training, and management of contractors, as well as all planned maintenance. The role also handles the bid and planning process for project work and participates in teams to develop and implement solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of plant experience or demonstrated capability and knowledge to troubleshoot major plant systems (e.g., filled coating systems, slate systems, poly wrap).
  • Computer literacy, including email, simple spreadsheets, and word documents.
  • Fluent in the language of the plant.
  • Knowledge of safe rigging procedures.
  • Ability to learn the responsibilities of this position.
  • High School or equivalent.
  • Complete and pass Electrical CD Rom training provided by plant.
  • Proficient in SAP PM Module.
  • Able to think under pressure and make quick decisions.
  • Ability to work well in a team or alone.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Must be able to operate a computer or other keyboard instrument.
  • Basic ability and knowledge of welding practices and hydraulic circuitry.
  • Advanced understanding of electrical circuitry.
  • Basic PLC knowledge.
  • Must have the ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Flair for working with large industrial machines.
  • Must be able to work independently or in a team atmosphere with minimal direct supervision, with a drive toward accomplishment and producing high-quality work.
  • U.S. citizen OR have valid proof of authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably five (5) years in a related maintenance trade or occupation that involved electrical, hydraulic machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to demonstrate troubleshooting techniques and have a basic understanding of blueprints.
  • Forklift operation, licensed – will provide certification.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Energy Control Procedures (ECP's) and Lock Tag Try (LTT) system, respecting potential hazards within the manufacturing operation, and conducting training and regular audits of the process.
  • Ensure contractors have completed proper safety compliance paperwork before a project begins and provide training and oversight to contractors on-site.
  • Work with the Reliability Leader and Controller on 901s for project completion.
  • Perform PLC basics, including using a laptop for troubleshooting, identifying and adjusting limit switches or photo eyes, and accessing status files to diagnose and clear PLC faults.
  • Conduct troubleshooting to analyze problems and determine root causes, aiming to reduce cycle time for problem resolution and eliminate the "replace and see what happens" method.
  • Understand Process 101 concepts, including critical product characteristics, key process variables, and customer needs for consistent manufacturing.
  • Understand Business 101 concepts, including World Class Manufacturing (WCM) concepts, individual and business benefits, and key business metrics.
  • Install, modify, or maintain plant equipment and assist in determining appropriate methods for these tasks.
  • Work safely and follow all documented and common-sense safety policies and procedures.
  • Read, understand, and analyze blueprints and other technical data references.
  • Use hand and power tools expertly.
  • Inspect plant equipment to identify potential problems before breakdown occurrences.
  • Comply with good housekeeping practices and ensure work areas are clean after each job completion.
  • Follow all environmental compliance policies and programs.
  • Work as instructed with outside contractors.
  • Perform mechanical tasks including machining bores, using drill presses, grinding, and operating lathes and mills.
  • Properly align belt, gear, or direct-coupled shafts using specified tools to meet tolerances.
  • Understand lubrication principles, bearing tolerances, and basic bearing physics.
  • Understand hydraulic systems, including flow principles, effects of pipe sizes and valves on pressure drops, making proper fittings, and proper valve application for water, hot oil, and hydraulic systems.
  • Understand compressed air and steam systems.
  • Understand pump basics and operating characteristics, including effects of suction pressures, head pressures, and sealing/packing techniques.
  • Track conveyor belts properly and understand the physics of belt operation and tracking, including bucket elevators and belt splicing.
  • Read air and power fluid schematics.
  • Perform basic welding for all crafts and structural and piping welding for at least one craft per plant.
  • Perform pipefitting, including alignment, flange, and threading.
  • Understand how basic electrical components work, such as solenoids, motors, heaters, contacts, and photoeyes.
  • Perform ultrasonic rotating equipment troubleshooting.
  • Understand basic industrial electrical code.
  • Read schematics and P&ID drawings.
  • Understand fusing, thermal overload protection, wire sizing, and motor theory.
  • Perform troubleshooting on AC, DC, and Servo drive systems.
  • Safely conduct motor control and power circuit troubleshooting, including fuse sizing, taking motor amp readings, and understanding basic DC motor control.
  • Fully troubleshoot DC and AC variable frequency drives and communicate technically with outside technical support.
  • Fully understand various control loops in the plant, including IM/APC systems and weight control equipment.
  • Be competent in electrical noise avoidance, including grounding and shielding.
  • Understand, troubleshoot, and properly tune burner systems.
  • Comply with all plant rules.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
  • Rotate to varying shifts as needed.
