About The Position

The MRO Planner/Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing Maintenance, Repair Parts and services to support efficient plant operations. This role ensures cost-effective procurement while maintaining supplier relationships, optimizing inventory levels, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and procurement software.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and best practices in procurement.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or plant maintenance environments.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts, including probability, statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Proficiency in using fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical procurement scenarios.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and manage diverse variables with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret and follow instructions presented in various formats (written, oral, diagrams, schedules).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Business Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in MRO procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management (preferred).
  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for maintenance parts and services, ensuring competitive pricing and quality.
  • Issue purchase orders and management supplier contracts.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives within MRO procurement.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Resolve issues related to supplier performance, quality, or pricing.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels of MRO supplies to prevent downtime.
  • Track procurement costs and adhere to budgetary constraints.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate purchases and reduce expenses.
  • Establish an accurate and reliable inventory system through an initial inventory and implementation of a cycle count process.
  • Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance work orders, ensuring availability of necessary materials, tools, and labor.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks based on operational needs and equipment criticality.
  • Create, track, and close work orders within the Deacom CMMS.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including labor hours, parts used, and root cause analysis.
  • Review completed work orders for accuracy and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Create and distribute work order kits.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Continuously seek and implement improvements to procurement processes and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to align procurement with business needs.
