About The Position

Northland Properties, a 100% Canadian-owned company with over 50 years of experience in hospitality, is seeking a Maintenance Person. As Canada's fastest-growing hospitality group, we believe our people are the foundation of our success. This role involves performing general building and property maintenance, including routine maintenance of pools, hot tubs, and the boiler room, servicing HVAC units, drywall repairs, painting, caulking, and replacing light bulbs and fixtures. The Maintenance Person will also respond to guest maintenance requests to enhance their stay. The role requires competence with hand and power tools and adherence to WHMIS Health and Safety Standards, including the mandatory use of personal protective equipment in compliance with Work Safe regulations.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Driver's License and own vehicle.
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • 2 years of maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the operation and maintenance of buildings.
  • Competent with using hand and power tools.
  • Work to a WHMIS Health and Safety Standard.
  • Must use personal protection equipment in compliance with Work Safe regulations.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Must have or be prepared to take Pool Operator's Course provided by AHS.

Nice To Haves

  • Carpentry skills and refinishing wood preferred.
  • Familiar with cleaning products.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general building and property maintenance.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of pools, hot tubs, and the boiler room.
  • Service heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units.
  • Perform drywall repairs and painting.
  • Apply caulking and silicone as needed.
  • Replace light bulbs and fixtures.
  • Respond to guest maintenance requests.
  • Perform drywall repairs and caulking.
  • Perform general plumbing repairs.
  • Maintain heating units and air conditioners (PTAC units).
  • Perform seasonal outdoor landscaping.
  • Conduct regular property inspections of the hotel, including common areas, building exterior, and landscape.
  • Responsible for vandalism clean-up and repair within skill level.
  • Maintain heating and air conditioning systems, boilers, pumps, fan units, control panels, thermostats, cooling towers, etc.
  • Maintain working knowledge of environmental safeguards and alarm systems.
  • Maintain fire alarms and extinguishers.
  • Maintain outside grounds, including snow/ice removal, weed control, gutter cleaning, and sprinkler system maintenance.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report unusual situations to the supervisor.
  • Prepare, paint, and decorate interior and exterior surfaces.
