About The Position

Radiac Abrasives, Inc., a leading manufacturer of conventional bonded and super abrasives, is looking for a Maintenance Person I to join our Salem team. For more than 100 years, Radiac has delivered industry-leading technology and quality products and service to the metal finishing industry. Radiac is a TYROLIT Company that is owned by the Swarovski Group, headquartered in Schwaz, Austria.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate, read, and write in English.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Familiarity with the use of hand tools.
  • Ability to use various measuring instruments.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
  • Ability to read a blueprint.
  • Ability to use electric meter.
  • Ability to weld and fabricate.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in maintenance environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree or Vocational Degree – Maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Inspect and/or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
  • Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
  • Diagnose electrical problems.
  • Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, jacks, or hoists.
  • Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.
  • Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
  • Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventative maintenance actions.
  • Participate in activities to increase personal skill level, overall departmental processes and product quality.
  • Maintain organized and clean work area.
  • Communicate all problems and other work-related issues with Supervisor or Lead.
  • Receive, understand, and follow all written and oral instructions.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety and attendance requirements.
  • Resolve day-to-day issues by working effectively with others.
