About The Position

The Maintenance Operator role is responsible for all general maintenance, operational support, repairs and upkeep at the terminal facility. The level of complexity and responsibility increases with the job grade level. Follows instructions and utilizes standard practices and procedures to develop resolutions to problems of limited scope. Duties are typically repetitive or routine in nature and work is closely supervised. Assignments are provided with little reliance on self-direction. Contributions usually limited to assignment-related activities and require little no decision-making. Still acquiring an understanding of the technical aspects of the job skills.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma required
  • 1 - 2 years related work experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, internal and external customers
  • Ability to work in stressful and changing environmental conditions
  • Ability to work under time pressure, tight deadlines and interruptions
  • Ability to use a personal computer with the Windows® operating system to complete time sheets, send and receive e-mail, and access information posted on the Company’s intranet
  • Ability to follow instructions or standard procedures
  • Ability to compile and/or examine information and select the best action from defined alternatives
  • Ability to organize and/or analyze information and identify solutions from a range of alternatives
  • Valid Texas driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in operations or tank farm maintenance role
  • Knowledge of refined and/or crude oil product characteristics, measurement and safe handling practices preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of assigned mainline and facility equipment/systems, including but not limited to Pressure Control Devices (PCD’s); filter changing; double block and bleed checks; valve, pump, VRU and rack maintenance; meter replacements; flange torqueing and unbolting; pipe threading; piping drain-ups and spec installation.
  • Completing and maintaining required documentation/records associated with performed maintenance and repair including lockout/tagout (LOTO).
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant federal, state, and local requirements (e.g., DOT, EPA, DEP, OSHA, and SIP) as they pertain to the operation and maintenance of the facility.
  • Performing general facility maintenance and upkeep including painting, general housekeeping, line specs, etc.
  • Performing routine preventive maintenance and following all safety requirements to prevent product contamination, spills, and avoid product loss.
  • Receiving materials: taking receipt of all materials received at the terminal, verifying the order is correct, notifying the person who placed the order of its arrival and disseminating materials as directed.
  • Operating facility equipment such as forklifts, backhoe, skid steer, trucks, vacuum truck, air compressors, and generators.
  • Organizing and maintaining warehouse supplies, ensuring sensitive materials are properly secured, maintaining special supplies and equipment as needed, including spill cleanup supplies and equipment.
  • Gauging terminal gasoline and diesel tanks, balancing fuel usage daily and checking tank inventory compared to the fuel logbook.
  • Ordering fuels from selected and approved vendors.
  • Monitoring contractor performance and working closely with contractors to ensure work is complete according to specification.
  • Performing other duties as required by supervisor.
