Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Equipment Maintenance: Work under the guidance of experienced technicians to perform routine maintenance and inspections on industrial machinery, including pumps, conveyors, compressors, turbines, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Learn Technical Skills: Gain proficiency in using hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, welding equipment, and other machinery-specific tools through on-the-job training and classroom instruction.
  • Troubleshooting: Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical problems by identifying defects and participating in repair and maintenance activities.
  • Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure personal safety and maintain a safe work environment. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Tool Maintenance: Maintain and organize tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition. Learn proper tool handling, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Blueprint Reading: Become familiar with mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand the layout and configuration of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Material Handling: Assist in procuring and organizing materials needed for maintenance and repair projects, including replacement parts, fasteners, and other components.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including work orders, material usage, and time spent on tasks. Document observations and outcomes of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Communication: Develop effective communication skills to collaborate with senior technicians, engineers, supervisors, and team members. Provide updates on project progress and share information on equipment conditions.
  • Training and Education: Participate in apprenticeship programs, workshops, and training sessions to acquire the knowledge and skills required for becoming a skilled mechanical maintenance technician or millwright.
