About The Position

This role is responsible for leading and planning all Maintenance operations to ensure safe, reliable, and ergonomic systems and machines. The position involves managing the departmental budget, developing cost-improvement strategies, and ensuring personnel competency through development and coaching. A key focus is maintaining production-related equipment to achieve efficiency, effectiveness, uptime, yields, and throughput. The role also requires collaboration with the engineering department for new equipment integration and utilizing engineering resources for complex plant issues. A significant aspect of the role is leading a reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) system to optimize equipment reliability and process effectiveness, including auditing RCM support programs and participating in breakdown analysis. The position manages daily maintenance and shutdown activities within budget and resource constraints, standardizes best practices across all lines, and initiates studies to address technical downtime, reduce waste, and improve team performance. The goal is to foster a total preventive maintenance program that enhances the link between maintenance and production. Effective communication with employees at all levels, providing guidance, counseling, and recognition, and maintaining constructive relationships are essential. The role directs problem-solving and continuous improvement activities, ensures spare parts meet engineering standards, and reduces spare part inventory through planning. It also involves initiating capital expenditure (capex) plans and applying RCM analysis to new equipment commissioning. All other duties as assigned by the manager are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technically related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt communication style to interact with a wide variety of people.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize objectives and targets to meet deadlines.
  • 7 to 10 years manufacturing experience in the areas of engineering, supervision and production management.
  • Minimum 5 years experience successfully supervising people in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with reliability centered maintenance: Management of CMMS, Pdm, PM, TPM.
  • Strong in results oriented, adaptable, standards driven, developing, influential and informative competencies.
  • Dynamic individual who leads by example.
  • Flexible, understands there is more than one way to accomplish a goal.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and have the determination to succeed in a challenging environment.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work towards project objectives with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, plan and execute all Maintenance operations.
  • Provide safe, reliable, ergonomic systems and machines.
  • Ensure all personnel reporting to this position carry on with their responsibilities in a safe and professional manner.
  • Manage departmental budget, developing strategies to continually improve costs.
  • Ensure personnel in this area are kept at the proper competency level through development, apprenticeship, coaching, etc.
  • Ensure that all production – related equipment in the plant is maintained in a state of repair, in order to achieve efficiency and effectiveness with proper uptime, yields and throughput.
  • Work with engineering department to ensure new equipment meets maintenance requirements.
  • Utilize engineering resources when plant issues require a higher level of intervention.
  • Lead and manage a reliability centered maintenance (RCM) system to ensure optimum equipment reliability and process effectiveness.
  • Audit preventative/predictive inspections and programs that support RCM to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement compliance.
  • Participate in team analysis for problem solving of major breakdowns.
  • Manage the daily maintenance and shutdown activities within budgeted dollars, manning and material resources.
  • Standardize and maintain across all lines best workmanship best practices.
  • Instigate studies and actions to overcome technical downtime problems, to reduce waste and improve team performance.
  • Lead and manage the maintenance department toward a total preventive maintenance program to enhance link between maintenance and production.
  • Communicate effectively with employees at all levels to ensure matters of mutual concern are addressed and resolved.
  • Ensure employees are provided appropriate guidance, counseling, or recognition on matters related to job performance and absenteeism.
  • Maintain constructive and candid relationships by addressing issues in a timely manner.
  • Direct and coordinate problem solving activities and continuous improvement activities.
  • Manage to ensure that the spare parts meet the engineering standards, updating engineering standards as required.
  • Reduce spare part inventory by parts planning through preventive maintenance work orders.
  • Initiate capex plans to ensure that these meet business needs.
  • Apply RCM analysis to the commissioning of new plant equipment and other systems to ensure that this introduction into the production facility is handled efficiently and within minimum disruption.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by manager.
