As we continue expanding our manufacturing operations, we are looking for an experienced Maintenance Mechanical Technician to help ensure the reliability and performance of our tortilla production equipment. The Maintenance Mechanical Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving the mechanical systems used throughout Talpa's tortilla manufacturing operation. This role supports every stage of production—from mixing and dough preparation to baking, cooling, stacking, and packaging—through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities while maintaining compliance with food safety and OSHA standards.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or vocational training in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, Electromechanical Technology, Industrial Mechanics, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Experience maintaining food manufacturing equipment (tortilla, bakery, snack food, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, conveyor, gearbox, bearing, chain, and belt systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
  • Fluent Spanish required; basic English preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with tortilla manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with industrial ovens, dough processing systems, and packaging equipment.
  • CMMS experience.
  • Welding, fabrication, machining, or basic electrical troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on tortilla production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues affecting production equipment.
  • Maintain mixers, dough preparation systems, tortilla presses, tunnel ovens, conveyors, cooling systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and document all work within the CMMS.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and production changeovers.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Follow OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and all company safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Operations to ensure efficient production and equipment performance.
