About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic position performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision. This role involves all phases of maintenance, including electrical and mechanical systems, such as fabricating, welding, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing required preventative maintenance. The mechanic is responsible for maintaining all equipment in good working condition, following the preventative maintenance schedule, and performing routine services and repairs on all rendering equipment. The position also requires maintaining a clean work area, assisting with special projects, and performing machine repairs and installations like replacing motors, rebuilding gearboxes, running piping, replacing belting and bearings, and welding. Daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment are also part of the duties. The mechanic must be able to diagnose and replace equipment parts with minimal direction, communicate effectively with operators and management, and adhere to all safety regulations and use of personal protective equipment. Attendance at safety meetings is required, and participation in the Safety Committee may be requested. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of Industrial Maintenance experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs all phases of maintenance, including electrical and mechanical systems (i.e. fabricating, welding troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing required preventative maintenance).
  • Maintains all equipment in good working condition.
  • Follows preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Able to perform routine services and troubleshoot and repair all rendering equipment.
  • Maintains clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
  • Assists personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
  • Performs machine repair and installation such as replacing motors, rebuilding gear boxes, run threaded piping, run weld piping, replace belting, replace bearings, welds and uses cutting torch.
  • Conducts daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment as needed.
  • Diagnoses and replaces equipment parts with little or no direction.
  • Communicates well with operators and management.
  • Responsible for using assigned personal protective equipment and required safety equipment; responsible for being familiar with and observing all Company safety rules and regulations.
  • Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
