About The Position

This position performs preventive maintenance (PM) services, inspection, and repair of grounds, buildings, and structures. This includes electrical, HVAC, and plumbing work for the maintenance, repair, and overhauling of heating, cooling, cleaning, filtering, and circulating systems, as well as other related building and maintenance systems, fixtures, and utility systems. The role involves performing maintenance tasks across various trades including electrical, air conditioning, heating, plumbing, pipefitting, carpentry, painting, cement and tile setting, and grounds keeping/landscaping. The mechanic ensures finished projects meet accepted trade standards and are documented, and plans work schedules to meet deadlines. They will also assist with utility failure drills, snow and ice removal, and demolition tasks. Additionally, the position requires adherence to CDC Guidelines for Infection Control in Health Care Facilities and determining protective measures based on Infection Control Risk Assessments. The mechanic will assist with general work orders and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid, unrestricted insurable driver’s license.
  • Resume and references are required.
  • Two years (2) of direct work experience in the construction or maintenance field.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency (HSE).
  • Certificate from Trade or Vocational School.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance (PM) services, inspection, and repair of grounds, building and structures, including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing work.
  • Maintains, repairs, and overhauls heating, cooling, cleaning, filtering, and circulating systems, and other related building and maintenance systems, fixtures, and utility systems.
  • Performs maintenance tasks involving electrical, air conditioning, heating equipment, plumbing, pipefitting, carpentry, painting, cement and tile setting, and grounds keeping and landscaping.
  • Ensures finished projects meet accepted trade standards and are documented.
  • Plans and organizes work schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Uses various equipment including motor vehicles, outdoor equipment, personal protective equipment, dollies, pressure washer, hand tools, ladders, air compressors, brooms, vacuums, meters, welders, leak detection equipment, gauges, carts, knives, hose, maps, power tools, scaffolds, air powered equipment, hazardous chemicals, torches, refrigerant recovery equipment, and vacuum pumps.
  • Assists in utility failures drills (bomb threats, fire, hazardous materials spills, external and internal disasters).
  • Assists with snow and ice removal during winter months.
  • Assists with demolition tasks (tearing out ceiling tiles, ripping down sheet rock walls, removing cabling, pipes, and electrical lines).
  • Meets Center for Disease Control (CDC) Guidelines for Infection Control in Health Care Facilities.
  • Determines protective measures required by an Infection Control Risk Assessment.
  • Assists with general work orders issued from Facility Maintenance Manager or Facility Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
