About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of equipment through daily inspections, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance. This role requires adherence to safety, health, and environmental policies, including the completion of various permits. The mechanic will also be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment, operating machinery, and communicating operational status to the next shift. Attendance is an essential function of the job.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing plant.
Experience with welding, electrical and mechanical work.
Ability to read and follow SOP’s and work instruction and work safely.
Working with others and dealing with people.
Willingness to participate within a team environment.
Motor coordination.
Follow precise standards.
Welding, steel fabrication, ability to use hand tools.

Responsibilities

Adhere to Safety, Health and Environmental (SH&E) policies and procedures.
Complete Hot Work, Line Break, Lock, Tag & Try, contractor work permits and other SH&E permits.
Maintain a questioning attitude to ensure a safe work environment.
Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Work Instructions.
Complete necessary forms, charts etc, to document the process.
Respond appropriately to process variations.
Safely work with hazardous materials.
Perform daily inspection of equipment.
Troubleshoot equipment as needed and perform preventative maintenance.
Work in a team environment and move to where the work is required.
Train co-workers on the job tasks as required.
Perform housekeeping and 5S.
Operate forklift and other motorized transportation equipment as necessary.
Communicate the status of the operation to the shift following.
Report to his/her workstation on time in order to receive operation status from previous shift.
