About The Position

Makes periodic inspections of and maintains all equipment associated with supplying safety lighting, plumbing, heating and ventilation, air conditioning, control systems and any other system for which responsible. This role involves making checks of all mechanical area equipment and logging them, handling maintenance calls from the main office, and maintaining required records. The position also includes combined responsibilities of testing and running of emergency generators along with electricians, and performing other related duties as assigned. The Maintenance Mechanic will maintain and repair distribution systems involving vacuum, medical air, medical gas systems, and air compressors. They will also maintain and repair pneumatic equipment located in engine rooms, such as hot water convertors, thermostats, induction units, sump pumps, and all piping pertaining to the function of this equipment. Minor electrical work, such as disconnecting leads on motors, resetting breakers, and replacing lights is also part of the duties. Additionally, the role involves changing air filters in all large air handling equipment, along with cleaning and painting in mechanical areas. Minor plumbing repairs include repairing existing plumbing fixtures (valves, washers, “O” rings, etc.), clearing stoppages, and stopping leaks. Condenser cleaning on chillers, and cleaning and maintenance on water towers, as well as cleaning of air handling unit coils are also responsibilities. The role requires interaction with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the University.

Requirements

• High School or GED required.
• Three (3) years of experience (with technical school)
• Four (4) years of experience (without technical school)
