The purpose of this Maintenance Mechanic position is to provide intermediate level maintenance for plant equipment, including mixers, pumps, conveyors, motors, bearings, gear boxes, and hydraulic systems, and to perform maintenance welding. The role requires observing all safety regulations and ensuring all GMP and quality standards are met to maintain the efficient flow of product through the production process.

Requirements

  • Understand and demonstrate intermediate level mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC systems is required.
  • Good maintenance shop skills needed for repairing a variety of equipment types.
  • Have intermediate knowledge in mechanical and electrical.
  • Demonstrate both an ability and the desire to learn the skills necessary for further advancement.
  • Understand and demonstrate intermediate maintenance safety.
  • Be able to use hand tools properly & safely.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical blueprints.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • At least 1 year as a Maintenance Mechanic I (for internal candidates).
  • At least 2 years verifiable experience (for external candidates).
  • Willingness to work any shift.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in an industrial environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Able to perform Heavy physical labor.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience preferably in a manufacturing environment (for external candidates).

Responsibilities

  • Organize and prioritize scheduled/unscheduled repairs and PM’s.
  • Ensure parts and materials are on hand to complete the tasks and assign the work to individuals.
  • Perform “hands on” repairs and adjustments as needed.
  • Consistently carry out all the essential functions required of Maintenance Mechanic I.
  • Locate source of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
  • Identify faulty equipment through observation and testing metrics.
  • Perform PM duties and maintain the required documentation within CMMS program.
  • Understand and demonstrate the operation of industrial machinery and technical equipment.
  • Communicate with the production team and escalate critical downtime in accordance with the escalation procedure.
  • Maintain electrical, pneumatics hydraulics and mechanical knowledge via on-going training, industry workshops and technical reading.
  • Lift and move heavy equipment.
  • Use all general hand, power, and shop tools.
  • Inspect work and work area, perform clean-up using proper tools and equipment.
  • Perform general carpentry, plumbing, masonry and scheduled maintenance on buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Assist all visitors, trades and contractors with repairs, replacements, modifications to equipment, machinery, wiring, piping as directed.
  • Secure all equipment at the end of the shift.
  • Complete all required paperwork at the end of the shift.
  • Perform general housekeeping and clean-up as required.
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • Complete all other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
