About The Position
Sun Chemical is seeking Maintenance Mechanics to join their team at the Peekskill, NY, location. This role involves performing duties to install, maintain, and repair equipment at the Peekskill Manufacturing Site. The position requires troubleshooting and repair skills in various areas including pipefitting, structural steel, pneumatic, hydraulic, rigging, and millwright work on both rotating and fixed equipment. The role also includes basic welding and fabrication, operating forklifts, and coordinating with multi-craft maintenance activities. Effective communication of work status, equipment deficiencies, and repair information is essential. The Maintenance Mechanic will interpret drawings and specifications, solve problems using maintenance practices and ingenuity, maintain excellent housekeeping, and communicate issues to supervision. Additionally, the role requires maintaining and updating maintenance records, using basic computer programs, and developing computer skills to support relevant programs.
Requirements
- High School or Trade School Diploma, or GED.
- Experience working in a chemical, refining, or manufacturing facility
- Experience in the safe and proper use of maintenance hand tools and power tools, diagnostic instruments.
- Skills in pipefitting, structural steel, pneumatic, hydraulic, rigging and other millwright work on rotating and fixed equipment such as process machinery, tanks/pumps/agitators, furnaces, boilers and general building and grounds maintenance.
- Possess good computer skills and good communication skills
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair utilizing advanced skills in pipefitting, structural steel, pneumatic, hydraulic, rigging and other millwright work on rotating and fixed equipment such as process machinery, tanks/pumps/agitators, furnaces, boilers and general building and grounds maintenance.
- Perform basic welding and fabrication; assist other mechanics in mechanical assignments as required.
- Operate forklift truck and other mobile equipment as required.
- Work in coordination with multi-craft maintenance activities.
- Notify status of work and communicate deficiencies in equipment and/or repair information.
- Understand complicated drawings, design specifications and/or utilizing good maintenance practices and ingenuity to solve problems.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping practices throughout the workplace.
- Communicate all problems or difficulties to the supervision, and utilize current technology as required.
- Maintain and update necessary maintenance records, use basic computer programs, and learn and maintain computer skills to support programs.
