About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is part of the Mattel Fort Worth Distribution Center team. This role involves a strong understanding of mechanical principles with the ability to diagnose and repair complex machinery. The mechanic will perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment, identify mechanical issues, troubleshoot faults, and complete necessary repairs. Responsibilities include replacing worn or defective parts, managing inventory of spare parts, and adhering to all safety regulations and maintenance procedures. The role also requires coordination with operations staff to minimize downtime and resolve equipment issues efficiently, as well as general building maintenance such as lighting, plumbing, and grounds upkeep. Additionally, the Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for assigning tasks, monitoring work quality, ensuring compliance with company standards, and guiding team members on the proper use and care of tools and equipment. Effective communication skills are essential for reporting progress on work orders and escalating issues to leadership.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic systems.
  • Experience handling or working with chemicals or industrial compounds.
  • Requires working knowledge of power tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and maintenance tracking systems (CMMS experience a plus).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift, climb, stand for extended periods, and perform hands-on repair work.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in a standardized environment.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Current Driver's License.
  • Current forklift certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a distribution center, warehouse, or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • CMMS experience a plus.
