About The Position

Bostik Middleton is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic. This role is responsible for performing various plant maintenance functions to maintain the general operation of the facility. The Mechanic will be responsible for safely inspecting, monitoring, and maintaining plant systems and equipment, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, chillers, reactor tanks, process heaters, and associated instrumentation. They will troubleshoot issues in partnership with production operators and take corrective actions to ensure reliable operation. The primary work schedule is a 4-10 schedule on days, with the requirement to work overtime and be on 24/7 call one week every two months.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience preferred
  • Use of hand and power tools as well as forklifts, scissor lifts, and slings/lifting equipment
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Frequent work from ladders and elevations
  • Must be able to sit (10%), walk (25%), stand (65%) daily
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs infrequently, and up to 10 lbs frequently

Nice To Haves

  • Some technical training or college preferred
  • Industrial process maintenance experience highly valued

Responsibilities

  • Performs various plant maintenance functions to maintain the general operation of the facility.
  • Safely inspects, monitors, and maintains plant systems and equipment, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, chillers, reactor tanks, process heaters, and all associated instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoots issues in partnership with production operators and takes corrective actions needed to deliver a reliable operation.
  • Follows all EHS policies and practices, including compliance with environmental regulations and permits, quality systems, and safe work practices (Safe Work Permits, Lockout Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Line Breaks, Etc.).
  • Demonstrates commitment to all EHS matters through individual actions such as behavior-based safety observations, hazard reduction opportunities, hazard recognition, and safe work permit execution.
  • Completes preventative maintenance inspections and generates work orders for repair as needed.
  • Tracks PM and work order execution in the maintenance management program.
  • Repairs/rebuilds valves, pumps, vacuum pumps, condensers, chillers, refrigeration, and other process equipment.
  • Troubleshoots process and equipment issues using a methodical approach.
  • Installs new equipment and supports capital project activities.
  • Participates in 5S, root cause problem solving, and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Follows written instructions and standard operating procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Supports all manufacturing operations as appropriate.
  • Follows proper procedures for the handling, storage, and transfer of hazardous and universal waste.
  • Uses hand and power tools as well as slings/rigging equipment.
  • Operates fork truck, scissor lift, boom lift, and other material handling equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs all manufacturing/facilities equipment on a timely basis to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Practices safe work habits in accordance with OSHA and EPA guidelines.
  • Maintains good housekeeping practices.
  • Completes all mandatory company safety training requirements.
  • Completes all work following all Bostik safety procedures and requirements.
  • Maintains equipment and reports issues to management as needed.
  • Documents all activities in work order system and communicates progress.
  • Understands equipment failures and puts actions in place to improve and prevent repeat issues.
  • Demonstrates responsiveness to production and other customers along with problem solving and learning.
  • Shows willingness to learn complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Applies working knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Utilizes familiarity with industrial control systems (single loop controllers, PLCs).
  • Reduces repeat failures to lower costs and improve productivity.
