About The Position

Basalite Building Products, LLC is one of the largest manufacturers of concrete masonry products in the Western United States. Product lines include structural block, interlocking paving stones, engineered wall systems, retaining walls, ornamental and garden products, and a full range of sack goods. We are a proud member of the Pacific Coast Building Products Family of Companies. Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position supports the maintenance area in all areas of manufacturing. This position is also responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Two years welding and machinery maintenance experience is beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electricity is beneficial.
  • Ability to operate forklift, drill press, welders, angle grinders, hand tools and any other equipment required to perform duties.
  • On-the-job training experience is required to be able to perform duties.
  • Forklift operational experience is beneficial.
  • Requires basic reading and writing skills.
  • Basic mathematics and counting skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional manner in dealing with employees and the public.
  • Operation of mobile electronic equipment may be required.
  • Valid Driver’s License may be required to operate Basalite vehicles on public roadways.
  • Predictable, and Regular attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years welding and machinery maintenance experience is beneficial.

  • Forklift operational experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to properly measure utilizing a tape measure and calipers.
  • Ability to properly use oxygen/acetylene torch.
  • Ability to arc weld in various positions and types of joints.
  • Ability to properly use a plasma cutter.
  • Ability to properly operate band saws, drills, drill presses, grinders, hand tools, and other shop equipment.
  • Ability to replace or repair bearings and related parts.
  • Ability to make minor wiring repairs.
  • Ability to replace equipment parts with proper instructions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to repair and set-up molds to company standards.
  • Knowledge of plant equipment, location, and name.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the safety requirements for performing maintenance on equipment and tools.
  • Demonstrate ability to start or jog equipment to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Works with operators and supervisors to solve problem with machinery.
  • Maintains work area clean and clutter free per company standards.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representatives.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
