About The Position

Position at JBS USA. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for inspecting and testing machinery to ensure proper functioning, and for inspecting mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear, replacing worn, damaged or defective mechanical parts as needed. This role involves dismantling machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, and hand tools, or power tools, and disassembling equipment for maintenance or repair. The mechanic will also operate hoists or other moving or lifting equipment and perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or performing other preventive maintenance. Additionally, the role includes inspecting mechanical components to identify problems and troubleshooting electrical controls and components, and repairing them as needed.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to climb ladders
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects
  • Must be able to work with a variety of hand and power tools and shop machines
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures
  • Knowledge of manufacturing/packaging equipment including hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, cylinders, labeling equipment and conveyors
  • Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, organizational skills, and the ability to learn quickly

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2-3 years of industrial mechanic experience in a food industry environment
