About The Position

Perform engineering work under supervision to perform standard equipment maintenance and repair following safety procedures. This role involves maintaining, repairing, modifying, and installing machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipes. The mechanic will diagnose system failures, develop repair plans, and perform preventative maintenance to ensure equipment longevity and functionality. Safety is paramount, requiring a strong understanding of HAZMAT, SDS, EPA, and OSHA regulations, as well as the correct use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of machinery, including forklifts and man lifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in performing standard equipment maintenance and repair.
Ability to perform mechanical and electrical work.
Proficiency in diagnosing equipment malfunctions.
Knowledge of pipe systems and pneumatic equipment installation and maintenance.
Experience with installing and maintaining various drive systems and bearings.
Ability to dismantle machinery and replace parts.
Understanding of preventative maintenance procedures.
Ability to conduct routine inspections and review work orders.
Familiarity with changing fluids, replacing belts, and conducting safety inspections.
Skill in cleaning and lubricating machinery parts.
Ability to respond promptly to service requests.
Clear understanding of HAZMAT, SDS, EPA, and OSHA requirements.
Proficiency in using personal protective equipment.
Ability to observe surroundings and practice safety guidelines.
Skill in operating machines and equipment correctly and safely.
Ability to safely operate a forklift/man lift and wear proper safety equipment/harnesses.
Proficiency in using proper tools for the job and complying with company practices.
Knowledge of accident and emergency reporting procedures.
Ability to understand and explain equipment and tool hazards.

Responsibilities

Perform mechanical and electrical work on machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipes.
Determine the cause and extent of component system failures through testing, listening, and visual inspection.
Develop and maintain a plan to accomplish strict deadlines on defective machines and equipment.
Lay out assemblies, install and maintain pipe systems and pneumatic equipment.
Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
Install, align, tension, and maintain chain and sprocket drives, gear drives, belt drivers, flexible couplings, pillow block bearings, shaft assemblies, brake assemblies, and pulleys.
Dismantle defective machines and equipment, replace faulty parts and motors, and adjust the feed mechanism according to specifications and blueprints.
Implement and perform preventative maintenance to prevent malfunctions and prolong the life of equipment, systems, and structures.
Conduct routine inspections and review work orders to determine service required on equipment and boilers.
Perform fluid changes, replace belts, and conduct safety inspections of equipment systems and components.
Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
Answer service requests from staff and facility employees promptly.
Work safely and adhere to HAZMAT, SDS, EPA, and OSHA requirements.
Use personal protective equipment when required and necessary.
Observe surroundings and practice safety guidelines.
Operate machines and equipment correctly and safely.
Safely operate a forklift/man lift and always wear proper safety equipment/harnesses.
Use the proper tools for the job and comply with company practices.
Report accidents or emergencies appropriately.
Understand and explain hazards associated with specific types of equipment and tools.
