The Maintenance Mechanic performs general mechanical and preventive tasks, inspecting, servicing, repairing, and overhauling physical plant equipment as directed. Duties are performed in relation to patient and employee safety, enhancing the patient/employee experience by maintaining and improving the environment. At the direction of the Director of Plant Operations, this role assists with maintenance, monitoring, and performance of preventive maintenance on all equipment including, but not limited to, refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, electrical, emergency backup electrical systems, and hot water systems. The role requires the ability to analyze system operations, determine the cause of problems/malfunctions, and take corrective action. It also involves assisting with the installation and repair of plumbing, piping, tubing, and single and three-phase motors, as well as rebuilding pumps, motors, and air compressors. Additionally, the Maintenance Mechanic installs and repairs heat exchangers, replaces bearings and seals, and assists with major repairs and maintenance of building and equipment. The role includes installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical controls, switching, and motor controls, and troubleshooting minor repairs to secondary electrical circuits, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, utility, and refrigeration systems. The Maintenance Mechanic monitors operation, repairs, and maintains refrigeration, water cooling, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, heating, ventilating, and hot water equipment; pumps, valves, piping, and filters; and other mechanical and electrical equipment, recording readings as necessary to assure proper operation and reporting any problems/malfunctions. Compliance with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials is also required.
