About The Position

St. Ann’s Community is currently looking for a dedicated evening Maintenance Mechanic for St. Ann’s Home located on the Irondequoit Campus. This position is responsible for the inspection and the maintenance/repair of the plant and equipment. The role involves assisting with various maintenance tasks, assessing facility conditions, performing repairs, and ensuring all work is documented accurately. The mechanic will also be responsible for maintaining tools and equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and participating in an on-call schedule.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of related experience and/or training in an institutional setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Building Maintenance Foreman and/or the Power Plant & Maintenance Manager with room ready, project, preventive maintenance, and daily work assignments.
  • Provide daily assessment of the condition of facilities for areas or items requiring repair.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and tasks.
  • Assist in updating preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure that all assigned work orders are satisfactorily closed out and supporting data is entered into the work order management system.
  • Troubleshoot and make repairs to facility equipment.
  • Involve senior Power Plant & Maintenance staff when working on complex equipment.
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs on water, steam, waste, and airlines.
  • Paint, plaster, and repair wall finishes.
  • Patch floors or walls and install VCT or ceramic floor tile.
  • Regularly report progress on assigned tasks or projects.
  • Coordinate the accomplishment of goals and expectations.
  • Ensure that all supporting paperwork for each task performed is complete and accurate, including time spent, date completed, parts used, and procedure used.
  • Ensure that work areas, storage areas, and equipment spaces are kept neat, clean, and orderly.
  • Ensure that all required workspace clearances for equipment are clearly marked and maintained.
  • Maintain the condition of and ensure the availability of tools, equipment, parts, and materials necessary for repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Occasionally operate rental equipment required for installations or repair projects.
  • May be assigned tasks involving renovation or refurbishment projects.
  • Use safe methods for performing assigned tasks and utilize appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  • Keep storage areas and job sites neat, clean, and free from hazards.
  • Work on an “On-Call” schedule to meet the 24-hour repair needs of the facility on a rotating schedule.
  • Perform all other tasks, assignments, and duties as requested, assigned, or required by department manager and/or director.
