About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining all corrugator, converting, and packaging equipment to minimize downtime. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, replacing, and installing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for all plant equipment. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, lubrication, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, welding, fabricating, and possible installations. The mechanic will dismantle equipment to access defective parts, interface with shift supervision to coordinate safe repairs, and ensure equipment is returned to safe, clean, working condition. The role also requires safe operation of hand tools, completion of assigned paperwork, and coordination with supervisors for data accuracy. Some working at heights will be required, along with other duties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent GED or work experience)
  • Ability to work safely on every task
  • Ability to speak, understand and read English
  • Ability to work any shift including call-ins, holidays, and overtime – some 12 hours shifts required to meet customer demands.
  • Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
  • A minimum of one year of mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience in a manufacturing facility
  • A record of good attendance and quality of work
  • Strong knowledgeable of lubrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment
  • Excellent teamwork, cooperation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow work instructions and collaborate with peers, supervisors and production supervisors
  • Must be computer literate in systems for maintenance processes, storeroom and work orders
  • Must provide own tools

Nice To Haves

  • Welding skills and experience are a plus
  • Forklift driving skills are a plus
  • Maintenance experience in corrugated manufacturing is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining all corrugator, converting, and packaging equipment to minimize downtime
  • Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, replacing and installing mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems for all plant equipment. Including equipment routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, lubrication, trouble-shooting, repairing, upgrading, welding, fabricating, and possible installations.
  • Be able to dismantle equipment to gain access to defective parts
  • Interface with shift supervision to coordinate safe repairs to equipment and ensure that equipment is returned to operations in a safe, clean, working condition
  • Safe operation of hand tools
  • Responsible for completing all paperwork assigned and coordinating with Supervisor to ensure data is correct and recorded
  • Some working at heights will be required
  • Other duties as assigned by supervision
