We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a water utility system, responsible for routine, preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks within the project's maintenance repair program. This role involves caring for a water plant facility, both indoors and outdoors, ensuring the provision of safe, clean water to the community. Requirements

  • High School or trade school diploma required.
  • Valid State of Florida driver’s license.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office programs, computerized maintenance programs and computerized databases, including SCADA.
  • Experience with the maintenance of pumps, compressors, and plumbing fixtures.
  • Working knowledge of methods, tools, and materials used in the development, construction, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment employed in the operation of water or wastewater treatment systems.
  • Knowledge in the principal operation of programmable logic controllers and industrial electronics.
  • Ability to safely perform varied mechanical skills, including gas and/or arc welding.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and update technical manuals, drawings, and specifications for assigned work.
  • Ability to keep accurate records using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Ability to troubleshoot electromechanical control systems.
  • Ability to calibrate process control instrumentation.
  • Ability to install electrical conduit and plumbing.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure with competing demands.
  • Thorough knowledge of hazards and safety precautions involved in water treatment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other personnel, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Courses in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance assignments as part of the project's preventive maintenance and repair program.
  • Perform housekeeping duties in the maintenance department and on maintenance vehicles as assigned.
  • Perform all work in a safe and professional manner, adhering to established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures.
  • Ensure all work meets the goals and objectives set by the project manager.
  • Perform minor repairs incidental to the proper maintenance of equipment.
  • May be responsible for grounds maintenance and cleaning, including general maintenance, mowing, and cleaning.
  • Perform daily checks of the facility to document operational status and maintenance requirements.
