The Contra Costa Water District is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Mechanic to join the Operations and Maintenance team. This role performs hands-on mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation work on pumps, motors, valves, generators, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and other essential equipment that keeps the Contra Costa Water District's operations running safely and efficiently. The Maintenance Mechanic position offers opportunities for additional pay through incentive programs. Employees who voluntarily obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may receive a 5% pay differential for a Class A CDL or a 2.5% pay differential for a Class B CDL. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will contribute to the reliable delivery of high-quality water by helping maintain the facilities and systems that support daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair pumps, motors, valves, and related mechanical equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure safe and reliable operation of water treatment and distribution systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical specifications related to mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Work independently or collaboratively with maintenance crews to complete repairs, installations, and operational projects.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to document work activities.
