About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for constructing, maintaining, testing, adjusting, and repairing mechanical equipment, machinery, and components to support production at Pilgrim’s Waco Prepared Foods facility in Waco, Texas. The role responds to mechanical issues identified in production areas, works with production management and personnel to diagnose problems, and performs preventative maintenance. Work must be completed accurately and efficiently while using time and resources appropriately. The position also requires adherence to safety, USDA, HACCP, and facility rules and regulations. Other duties may be assigned as production demands require. The posting states a starting pay of $21.50 per hour. Pilgrim’s describes safety as a condition and notes COVID-19 safety measures at the facility, including social distancing guidelines, daily temperature screenings for employees and visitors, available face coverings, and enhanced cleaning and sanitation.

Requirements

Less than high school education, plus 2 years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to physically perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

Adhere to all safety, USDA, HACCP, and facility rules and regulations.
Construct, maintain, and test mechanical equipment, machinery, and components.
Identify parts or machines needing new or replacement parts.
Use shop mathematics to complete assignments.
Interpret equipment drawings to properly adjust, maintain, or repair machinery.
Respond to production-area requests when mechanical issues with equipment are identified.
Communicate with production management and personnel to diagnose problems and determine potential mechanical problems.
Perform preventative maintenance.
Complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently with regard to time and resources.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support production demands.
