About The Position

Dart Container is seeking Industrial Maintenance Mechanics at multiple levels to maintain plant and facility equipment and help ensure that operations run smoothly and efficiently. The role involves installing, diagnosing, analyzing, maintaining, modifying, repairing, and rebuilding a variety of equipment. Mechanics also perform preventive maintenance and assist production personnel with changeovers and setups. Shift availability includes 8 p.m.–8 a.m. and 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Dart Container is a family-owned company with 12,000 employees and 30 locations in three countries. It manufactures food and drink packaging products, including foam cups, take-out containers, and SOLO cups.

Requirements

Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic problems, including knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Ability to obtain and maintain a powered industrial truck (PIT) license.
Minimum proficiency in English to support effective new-hire training and ongoing safety and quality communications.
For Level 2: Three years of experience performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair, or comparable experience through trade school or training.
For Level 2: Special knowledge of hand tools and power tools; ability to troubleshoot moderately complex problems; understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, temperature and pressure gauges; proficiency reading and following basic blueprints, manuals, and mechanical and electrical schematics; experience operating test equipment and/or software; working knowledge of automated controls; and ability to operate PITs, hoists, and cranes and maintain PIT certification.
For Level 3: Five years of experience performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair, or comparable experience through trade school or training.
For Level 3: Knowledge of hand tools and power tools, specialized knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO), and introductory electrical knowledge including basic wiring principles and troubleshooting.
For Level 3: Ability to perform root cause analysis, compare and investigate information, and recommend and implement resolutions.
For Level 3: Advanced mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot complex problems, including knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
For Level 3: Advanced understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, temperature and pressure gauges; understanding of manufacturing processes; and ability to inspect and repair or replace components.
For Level 3: Experience using Microsoft Office, including modifying basic reports, documents, and spreadsheets in Word and Excel.
For Level 3: Experience operating test equipment and/or software.

Nice To Haves

Ability to read and follow basic blueprints, manuals, and mechanical and electrical schematics.
Paper converting, chemical/plastics processing, and/or packaging industrial experience.
Vocational, technical, or associate degree in Machine Tool, Machine Maintenance, Industrial Electrician, Electro-Mechanics, Mechatronics Technology, Automation Controls, Robotics, or a related field.
Experience in electrical and mechanical trades such as HVAC, PLC, and CNC.

Responsibilities

Install, diagnose, analyze, maintain, modify, repair, and/or rebuild plant and facility equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance by checking, cleaning, or repairing equipment to detect and prevent problems and keep machines running smoothly and efficiently.
Assist production personnel with changeovers and setups.
Dismantle defective machines and equipment to access problem areas or install new or repaired parts.
