About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic will diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul diesel/gasoline tractors/trucks, and other equipment such as front-end loaders, excavators and other light- and heavy-operating equipment in support of the Facility’s overall operations. Equipment manufacturers include Kenworth, Mack, John Deere, Caterpillar, etc.

Requirements

  • GED/HS Diploma or 3 years’ experience.
  • Minimum two years of mechanical trade school training and two years’ experience as a vehicle and heavy equipment mechanic.
  • Must be able to operate mobile equipment such as front-end loader and tractor/trailer for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
  • Qualify to wear a full-face respirator
  • Consistently work in various weather conditions
  • Monday to Friday, 8-hour days starting at 7 am.

Nice To Haves

  • Current valid CDL Class A or B license is a plus but not required.
  • Weld or solder broken parts and structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts to braking system, engines, fuel system, power train, electrical system and hydraulic system.
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Overhaul and test equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Prioritizing and executing repairs tasks and projects.
  • Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies such as transmissions, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes.
  • Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
  • Weld or solder broken parts and structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering tools is a plus.
