About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on process and facility equipment. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, proficiency with tools, and the ability to document work accurately using computer systems. The mechanic will ensure machinery operates efficiently by adhering to maintenance schedules and troubleshooting malfunctions. Punctuality, adherence to safety and food safety guidelines, and a commitment to continuous learning are essential. The position also involves requisitioning repair parts and performing other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Basic mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Knowledgeable with the proper use of hand and power tools as well as all special equipment tools.
  • Ability to complete daily computer tasks required to keep PM and work orders up to date.
  • Ability to follow diagrams, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Strength, stamina and mobility to perform physical work in all conditions and with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen.
  • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio.
  • Ability to stand or be on feet for long periods of time on hard surfaces.
  • Ability to perform continuous and repetitive motion, including: lifting, pushing and pulling product and/or objects, as well as bending, twisting and reaching with the torso.
  • Ability to lift products or objects weighing in excess of sixty pounds.
  • Ability to work in either hot areas or refrigerated areas for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Assist or perform preventative and corrective tasks on process and facility equipment.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal integrity and conduct.
  • Complete daily computer tasks for PM and work orders, ensuring accuracy and clarity of documentation.
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical control systems, conveyor systems, and production machines.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions by following diagrams, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Be punctual and adhere to all safety policies, general manufacturing policies, and food safety guidelines.
  • Requisition repair parts for equipment and facility as required.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a safe and timely fashion.
  • Increase knowledge and gain experience in all aspects of the Maintenance field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
