About The Position

OMG Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support our Agawam Heat Treat Facility. This role involves performing scheduled and unscheduled mechanical updates and repairs on fastener manufacturing equipment, and suggesting improvements to increase productivity. The position operates on a 12-hour shift schedule, working 11:00 pm – 11:00 am on Fridays and 11:00 am – 11:00 pm on Saturdays, with an option for an extra shift to create a 30-hour, 3-day working schedule.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years mechanical maintenance experience including:
  • Demonstrate understanding of electrical systems
  • Industrial mechanical troubleshooting and repair
  • Understanding of hydraulics
  • Set up and operation of general machine maintenance shop equipment and tools
  • Correct use of machinist measurement tools
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment mechanically.
  • Capable of overcoming obstacles and completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent time management skills.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Good close vision and depth perception skills.
  • Ability to work 12-hr shift

Nice To Haves

  • Basic welding and cutting procedures (optional)
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial controls and instrumentation preferred.
  • PC skills including experience with MS Office Suite preferred.
  • Industrial forklift certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance on heat treat equipment.
  • Provide emergency and/or unscheduled maintenance as required.
  • Assist with set up of equipment for scheduled production runs.
  • Assist with machine rebuilds, installations and moves.
  • Fabricate machine repair, tooling parts, safety guards and other parts as requested.
  • Perform additional mechanical services as requested including mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packing and other production equipment.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Comply with OSHA Safety and Health standards and requirements.
  • Identify and implement improvements to existing policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
