About The Position

Keep our YMCA facilities safe, welcoming, and running smoothly! We're looking for a skilled Part-Time Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot repairs, and help ensure an excellent experience for our members and staff. Weekday schedule, approximately 8:00 AM–2:00 PM. POSITION SUMMARY: Perform general maintenance duties and work to keep the YMCA Community Development properties adequately maintained and clean. All employees must reflect the YMCA of York and York County core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility when carrying out their job function.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education certificate
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals, work orders and compliance documents to perform required maintenance and service YMCA community development properties
  • Basic mechanical knowledge including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must hold current valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.
  • 5 to 10 years' experience in building maintenance
  • Will obtain Pennsylvania State Police background check
  • Must have or obtain CPR and AED training within designated time period
  • Must have or obtain training for proper lifting within designated time period
  • Must have or obtain training for ladder safety within designated time period

Responsibilities

  • Operate hand and electrical tools in a safe and knowledgeable manner.
  • Adhere to OSHA and YMCA of York County rules and policies, including wearing proper protective attire.
  • Keep work areas neat and clean.
  • Perform minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.
  • Check A/C units and heating systems, inspect and replace filters as needed according to the routine maintenance schedule.
  • Check and replace light bulbs in common areas as needed.
  • Clean and maintain all common spaces of the property.
  • Ensure the exterior of properties remains trash-free.
  • Maintain power equipment and company vehicles, ensuring safety and that inspections and licenses are current.
  • Keep plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and all building systems in good repair.
  • Follow the preventive maintenance program, correcting or reporting problems, unsafe conditions, and breakdowns promptly to a supervisor.
  • Keep the supervisor informed of equipment outages, repair delays, and departmental needs.
  • Prepare for, conduct, and respond to inspections by HUD, Section 8, York City Codes, and PHFA.
  • Manage volunteer crews as needed.
  • Support YMCA procedures and policies.
  • Be on call as scheduled for emergency issues and respond on-site when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
