About The Position

If you said yes, then our Maintenance Mechanic role at the Town Dock might be right for you! Our Maintenance team is responsible for maintaining and repairing the Town Dock's seafood processing plants and equipment in Narragansett & North Kingstown to ensure continuous productivity within the business.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack and scissor lift
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Experience with and understanding of pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors
  • Mechanical knowledge to diagnose and repair lift equipment and machinery
  • Welding skills and experience a plus
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to be flexible with changing priorities
  • Experience in a maintenance role within a food facility is preferred, but not required
  • Conscientious of safety and detail
  • OSHA training or the willingness to be trained
  • Physical ability to lift 75 lbs. work in confined conditions, work at heights up to 30' in lifts, climb stairs and ladders, bend, stand on feet for long periods, use hand-held and power tools
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Basic math skills required
  • A strong belief and commitment to continuous learning and improvement, positive attitude, teamwork, accountability and strong ethical behavior

Nice To Haves

  • Welding skills and experience a plus
  • Experience in a maintenance role within a food facility is preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain facilities and equipment.
  • Buildings include multiple food facilities and an administrative building
  • Equipment consists of a variety of conveyors, lift equipment, production equipment, pumps, flumes, motors
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment – greasing, cleaning, inspections, fluid checks, etc.
  • Perform safety inspections as needed
  • Maintain and repair lift equipment – pallet jacks, forklifts and scissor lifts
  • Maintain and repair production equipment
  • Work orders include, but not limited to mechanical work, plumbing, carpentry, painting and minor electrical
  • Operate the ice plant. This includes running ice production equipment, conveying equipment, scales and pumping ice for the plant and boats once fully trained.
  • Schedule ice appointments and interact with boat crews as needed to schedule and deliver ice
  • Drive to pick up parts and supplies as needed
  • Travel amongst the facilities when needed (Narragansett & North Kingstown)
  • Snow removal when needed
  • Clean and organize the maintenance shop
  • Welding skills and experience a plus, but not required
  • Work independently and/or with other team members depending on the work
  • Work with outside vendors on equipment as needed
  • Maintain OSHA, HACCP, DOT and Food Safety regulations throughout the maintenance responsibilities
  • Maintain cleanliness of the maintenance shop and work areas on the job
  • Normal hours 7:00am – 4:00pm including some weekend hours, with occasional requirement to answer calls after hours. Call backs and/or extended hours are required when needed; overtime is expected.
