About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and improving mechanical and electrical systems within the manufacturing facility to ensure improved uptime and efficiency. This role requires technical skills, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members. This position is primarily assigned to the night shift; however, the successful candidate must be able to adjust work hours as business needs require, including coverage for day shift assignments or fluctuating schedules to support operational demands.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5 plus (5+) years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing, with exposure experience in automated control systems.
  • Hands-on entry level experience with Siemens or Allen Bradley drives, AC motors, VFDs, and diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, Megger, infrared thermometers).
  • Background in documentation and preventive maintenance processes.
  • Experience in troubleshooting electrical controls, power distribution, and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with entering and documenting in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and conduit bending and installation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse teams.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and CMMS software.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks such as walking, bending, twisting, and climbing.

Nice To Haves

  • AS or AAS in Electrical/Electronic Technology, Mechatronics, or Industrial Technology certificate preferred.
  • Strongly prefer nonwovens/carding experience.
  • Certifications such as CMRT or CMRP are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in 3-phase electrical systems (up to 480V) and mechanical devices using testing instruments and technical documentation.
  • Dismantle and repair defective parts using hoists, cranes, and various tools while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Fabricate repair parts using machine shop equipment such as lathes, end mills, and grinders.
  • Create and update maintenance documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies, and place orders as necessary.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians while maintaining technical knowledge through workshops and technical publications.
  • Utilize the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to document work orders and perform root cause analysis.
  • Support lean and continuous improvement initiatives, including completing quick kaizens and creating BOMs for equipment.
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
