The role is responsible for light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks completed in a safe, professional manner. Extra precautions must be taken when working in patient/resident care areas, specifically keeping tools out of the reach of children. The position requires basic mechanical knowledge and competence in the use of hand tools, meters, measuring devices, and gauges. Ability to work from blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals is helpful. The employee must be able to explain conditions and situations accurately while troubleshooting, and function with safety, moral, and efficiency of the department in mind. The role requires the ability to work all shifts and hours as scheduled and to comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code. Understanding of written and verbal communications is necessary, with good written and oral communication skills required. The position allows for independent work with minimal supervision. Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances is required. Depending on facility size, additional duties may include performing installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations, to ensure a safe and efficient environment; maintaining campus grounds and performing other outside maintenance duties; performing general duties such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair and maintenance. On-call duties may be required as needed or directed by the department.

Requirements

  • Basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Competence in the use of hand tools, meters, measuring devices, and gauges.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals (helpful).
  • Ability to explain conditions and situations accurately while troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work all shifts and hours as scheduled.
  • Compliance with all corporate and facility policies and dress code.
  • Understanding of written and verbal communications.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Minimum of two years experience in building systems (preferred).
