About The Position

Sanford Health is hiring a PRN Maintenance Mechanic for Luther Manor. The position is responsible for completing light maintenance repairs and cleaning tasks safely and professionally. The role helps with floor technology and maintenance issues as needed.

The mechanic takes extra precautions in patient and resident care areas, keeps tools out of children’s reach, and works independently with minimal supervision. Depending on the facility, duties may include maintaining mechanical and stationary systems, including boilers; grounds and outdoor maintenance; and general electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair and maintenance. On-call duties may be required as needed or directed by the department.

Requirements

• Basic mechanical knowledge and competence using hand tools, meters, measuring devices, and gauges.
• Ability to work all shifts and hours as scheduled.
• Ability to understand written and verbal communications; good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Trade school or vocational school preferred.
• Depending on location, a valid driver's license and good driving record may be required.

• Ability to work from blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• At least two years of experience in building systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete light maintenance repairs and cleaning tasks safely and professionally.
• Take precautions when working in patient and resident care areas and keep tools out of children’s reach.
• Use mechanical knowledge and hand tools, meters, measuring devices, and gauges to complete work.
• Troubleshoot and accurately explain conditions and situations.
• Install and maintain mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations, depending on facility needs.
• Maintain campus grounds and perform outdoor maintenance duties, depending on facility needs.
• Perform general electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair and maintenance, depending on facility needs.
• Perform on-call duties as needed or directed by the department.
• Comply with corporate and facility policies and dress code.
