Performs maintenance and repair of facilities and mechanical equipment in a professional manner under the direct supervision of Journeyman Mechanic or higher-level craftsman. Repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments. Tests equipment and machinery found in the facility’s environment, such as pumps, compressors, motors, fans, shop support equipment, mobile maintenance, facilities, airfield support equipment, non-avionics equipment and related mechanical system and components. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Lubricates and cleans parts. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Performs other duties and activities as directed.
