About The Position

This position is responsible for all assigned tasks related to ensuring the safe and appropriate operation of equipment by proper diagnosis, repair and maintenance of the operating condition of production/processing machinery and other mechanical equipment and buildings. Duties include repairing and maintaining machinery, mechanical equipment and computerized systems, such as pumps, conveyor systems, and motors, in accordance with diagrams, blueprints, operating manuals, or manufacturer’s specifications. Confers with operators and observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction. Disassembles machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs. Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear. Repair, replace, adjust, and align components of machinery and equipment. Cleans and lubricates parts, equipment, and machinery. Test-runs repaired machinery and equipment to verify adequacy of repairs. Fabricates replacement parts. Welds to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment. Orders or requisitions parts and materials. Repairs and replaces electrical wiring and components. Records repairs and maintenance performed in an accurate and timely manner. Member of the Emergency Response Team. Ability to work on AC/DC power and control voltages. Has all required tools to perform job and always carries basic tools and test equipment and always maintains such in workable condition. Maintains basic computer skills to perform maintenance and repair on computer-controlled machinery. Works on PLC controls, VFD drives and demonstrates a good understanding of instrumentation. Effectively troubleshoots electrical, mechanical and process issues in an independent manner. Communicate effectively and work well with all employees, visitors and vendors. Reliable and available to work any shift and holidays. Work overtime as required. Perform other duties as may be required. Demonstrates good interpersonal communication skills. Understands and follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s). Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Promptly reports any unsafe working conditions. Promptly reports all potential quality and food safety hazards to management. Complies with all of Saputo’s food safety, quality programs, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates integrity in all business activities with employees, visitors and vendors. Reliable and consistent attendance and available to work any shift, overtime or holidays as required; may be required to cover the absence of key personnel. Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School graduate plus a minimum of two (2) years’ industrial maintenance experience within Dairy, Food, and/or Beverage industry or a combination of experience, formal training and education.
  • Working knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance.
  • Effective troubleshooting skills; must be able to systematically diagnose electrical and/or mechanical problems.
  • Working knowledge of AC & DC power and control voltages, PLC, VFD drives and process instrumentation.
  • Basic computer hardware and software skills.
  • Has all required tools to perform job and always carries basic tools and test equipment and always maintains such in workable condition.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance and available to work any shift, overtime or holidays as required; may be required to cover the absence of key personnel.

Benefits
