About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, utilities, and facility systems in a food manufacturing environment. This role supports safe, efficient, and continuous operations by performing preventive maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and ensuring equipment reliability while following all safety, GMP, and food safety standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment where accuracy, safety, and teamwork are critical to success.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Proficient in the use of maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work on-call or overtime when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification or an associate degree in maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery, equipment, and facility systems according to established schedules.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues affecting production equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and implement effective, timely repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment and systems to identify safety hazards, wear, or operational issues.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, including work performed, parts used, and time spent, using manual or computerized maintenance systems.
  • Support installation, setup, and commissioning of new or modified equipment.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety requirements, and sanitation standards.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance needs during production and support planned shutdowns or downtime activities.
  • Communicate effectively with production, quality, and operations teams to support business needs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational goals.
