Position Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing repairs on manufacturing and packaging machinery/equipment, motors, pneumatic tools, and conveyor systems with minimum supervision. Additionally, this position performs scheduled preventative maintenance, overhauls, and installs equipment under the supervision of the Facilities Manager or a designated senior maintenance mechanic.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance.
  • Knowledge of parametric and industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the maintenance field or similar field (i.e., electrical, electronic controls, mechanical or HVAC)
  • Successful completion of an applicable trades training program or equivalent will be considered in lieu of experience.
  • General troubleshooting skills.in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Basic computer skills in Word, Outlook and navigating digital equipment manuals.
  • The ability to verbally communicate with a wide range of internal customers.
  • The ability to update logs, records and general maintenance records as needed.
  • Can comprehend and act on technical information related to the preventive maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of equipment, machinery, and tools.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance to ensure reliable safe operation of production and packaging equipment.
  • Maintain records pertinent to equipment performance - necessary repairs and downtime via PMs and completion of work orders.
  • Makes suggestions/implements solutions to improve the reliability and safety of equipment.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and use maintenance troubleshooting techniques to locate causes of trouble and repair as necessary, minimizing production downtime.
  • Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear; replace defective parts and reassemble equipment.
  • Conduct repairs, including motor replacements, gearbox fixes, and other essential machine component repairs, often with minimal supervision.
  • Work with industrial electrical controls to troubleshoot and repair electrical components and machinery including all three phase 480, 240 and other plant systems.
  • Routinely cleans and lubricates parts as part of preventive maintenance.
  • Operates maintenance equipment like milling machines, lathes, and other specialized tools crucial for task completion.
  • Follow company’s good manufacturing and safety policies and procedures.
  • Other related duties as required.
